We set off to the Sahara to enjoy a nice bumpy camel ride to celebrate our 30 birthdays this year. It was quite an adventure!

We saw this couple on our way to the desert. They were amazing! We saw them again about 100 km from here, on our way back, 2 days later! Grandpa and Nana this could be you some day.

We had been riding about an hour when we stopped to take a break. Phew!!
Some things I said on the way were, "Be careful, Papa"... "Hold on"... "Whoa, it's bumpy!"...."Levi not scared"...and "Look, Mom, Levi ride the camel."
We were amazed at how much gas these creatures produced. They must have eaten broccoli and cabbage before we departed. I have never smelled anything so disturbing.

It was starting to get dark and the full moon was just enough to illuminate our path. With all of the sand that surrounded us, I was reminded of God's promise to Abraham about his offspring being as many as the sand on the shore and the stars in the sky! Hard to believe!

I was having a great time playing in the biggest sand box ever and riding the camels! What more could a boy my age ask for? I had to sport my red-neck t-shirt that my Mamaw gave me! I wanted those camels to know that I am one tough dude!

Here I am at our camp site. I enjoyed tossing, rubbing, shaking, sifting, transporting, and dropping the sand. If we only had some to take home!

We had oranges for dessert after a delicious dinner. The food was amazing and the sleeping accomodations were very clean and comfortable. No misquitos either!

This is a typical Berber tent that we were fortunate enough to experience. It is hand-woven goat hair.

This was the amazing sun rise that we witnessed unfolding before our eyes at 0630! It had sprinkled just a little bit that night and the rain clouds were still lingering. It made for a cool morning. "Oh, Lord, Oh, Lord how majestic is Your Name in all the earth!"
Our tent is to the left (not shown). These are other companies that have accomodations for tourists like us!

This is the massive dune we climbed and took pictures from. Later we could see it from the hotel and it was two hours into the desert! The best part was going down hill. Our feet gently sank down and we felt like we were hovering.

Ain't we just the purdiest things you ever saw? Yes, we look tired...remember we camped out and it is 0630!! We were half way up the dune at this point and look how small our camp site is.

Before we headed back that morning we were given the opportunity to buy some hand made items. I got a camel made out of cotton and wire. They enjoyed playing with me.

We made it back! The look is priceless...I was sad the trip was over and I didn't want my picture taken anymore!

Our guide to and from the camp!

This is the hotel. It is made out of mud and straw. Can you believe it? Thank you for joining us on our little adventure. Stay tuned!
