New Trick and Fun

I showed my mom a new thing that I can do with my feet. Later, I made waves in the tub by going back and forth.

Homemade Play-dough

We got this really great recipe for homemade play-dough from Maw-Maw and Pop. This is our second batch and it has proven to be a great recipe. You can make your own colors and it doesn't smell funny.

Recipe: 1/2 cup salt
1 cup flour
2 tsp Cream of tartar
1 cup water
1 tblsp cooking oil
food coloring
Mix dry ingredients together in a large sauce pan then add the rest of the ingredients and cook for 3 minutes on med-high heat. Stir continuously. It is done when it starts to pull away from the sides. You'llknow when it is ready. Remove from heat and knead immediately. Store in an air tight container.

3 Kings Weekend

We had to take Mammaw to Segovia while she was here. There was no better time than during the celebration of the 3 Kings Day(Jan 5)!
We did a little spelunking!
Above is the castle Alcazar.
On 3 kings day the parade begins at the castle of Alcazar and finishes here at the aquaducts. We arrived early and were able to watch the preparations! The aquaduct was built by the Romans at the end of the first century and were used up until the late 19th century! Just behind here they had a huge fireworks display.
These were at the front of the parade and gave a magnificent show. I was captivated by their ability to walk on stilts on a cobblestone road!
One of the "kings" on his float. Everybody in the parade throws candy to the spectators.
Just a glimpse of the incredible fireworks! We want to make it a tradition of going here for this holiday because Madrid is so huge and we can only imagine how much more crowded it would be. On this night Jan 5 is when Santa comes according to this culture. So, when we woke up the next morning it was a very quiet little town.

Mammaw and me in front of the cathedral
All packed up and heading out.
We took the scenic route home to get a glimpse of the monastary in Escorial completed in 1584.
This trip wiped me out!

School

This was my first day of school. I got this cool outfit from my girlfriend Talley. She has great taste. Orange is my favorite color and it has a really warm shirt with dinosaurs! I did well my first day. Mom and Papa only made me stay 1 1/2 hours the first day and I have now worked my way up to 4 hours! Mommy doesn't like that I have to stay that long but we have to do what we have to do until we get the language mastered. I cry at the beginning still but I have made some new friends and my teacher Rocio is very loving and friendly. I gave her a kiss good-bye the first day!
The school has a Pediatrician and a child psychologist that both come once a week in case any children need to be seen and evaluated. They will be watching my interaction and adaptation into the class and will recommend a meeting if they see things that they are concerned about. They also have a play gym with an indoor slide and the little plastic balls that you can "swim" in. It is a great place for running and tumbling.
This is my second day of school. They told me I had to start caring a backpack so I am using the one Mammaw brought for me. It is great. I also go this cool Levi's outfit from her for Christmas. It has my name on the shirt and on the jacket! My mom still puts my name inside of it eventhough it is clear as day about whose it is!
This is another new outfit I got from Talley. I wore it to church on Sunday. They all fit me perfectly.

Cookies for Santa

We have tried several times to post and then we lose our connection! Ugh! I know that Christmas is long gone but we had to share making cookies for Santa and leaving them out. Levi was thrilled with Christmas and we are so thankful for my mom's visit. She brought love from the States to us and we are charged up for this year!
